Ethisartan is a medication containing losartan potassium, an angiotensin-II receptor antagonist. It treats high blood pressure and chronic heart failure when ACE inhibitors are not suitable.
It blocks angiotensin-II, a hormone that constricts blood vessels, causing blood pressure to decrease.
Dosage varies based on condition, age, and other factors. Consult your doctor for specific guidance.
Do not take Ethisartan if you are allergic to losartan, have severely impaired liver function, or are more than 3 months pregnant.
Tell your doctor about any medical conditions, including angioedema, severe vomiting/diarrhea, low salt diet, progressive liver disease, kidney problems, narrowing of blood vessels, high aldosterone levels, heart conditions, diabetes, and Afro-Caribbean origin.
Common side effects include dizziness, low blood pressure, weakness, fatigue, low blood sugar, and high potassium levels. Serious side effects include swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or throat; difficulty breathing or swallowing; rash or itching; and yellowing of the eyes and skin.
Contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose.
Consult your doctor before stopping Ethisartan.
Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Take with a glass of water, with or without food. Avoid alcohol, excessive salt intake, and operating machinery if experiencing dizziness. Consult your doctor if pregnant, breastfeeding, or have lactose intolerance.
