It is a medication containing 10mg of Amlodipine Besylate USP per tablet used to treat angina pectoris and hypertension.
It inhibits calcium ion influx into cardiac and vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure.
The initial dose is 5mg once daily, possibly increasing to 10mg after 10-14 days.
It's slowly absorbed orally, reaching peak plasma levels in 6-12 hours. It's extensively metabolized in the liver.
Peripheral edema, palpitations, dizziness, headache, somnolence, fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, and flushing.
Hypersensitivity to amlodipine or dihydropyridines, and pregnancy/lactation.
Start at a lower dose due to reduced clearance.
Dose reduction may be needed in severe renal or hepatic impairment.
Safety and efficacy in children haven't been established.
Excessive vasodilation and hypotension. Treatment includes cardiovascular support and possibly calcium gluconate.
Concurrent use with nitrates, beta-blockers, or other antianginal agents may cause severe hypotension.
Below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light, and out of reach of children.
Supplied in blister strips of 28 (2x14) and 140 (10x14) tablets.
