Reducing elevated cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia. Adjunctive therapy for elevated serum triglyceride levels. Treatment of patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. Reducing total and LDL-C in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.

Liver function tests should be monitored. Therapy should be withheld or discontinued in patients with myopathy or risk for renal failure.

Extensively metabolized and eliminated primarily in bile. Mean plasma elimination half-life is approximately 14 hours.
General supportive measures should be adopted. Monitor liver function tests and serum CPK levels.
