Amoksiklav is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.
Take the tablet whole with water at the start of a meal or just before. Adults and children 40kg+ usually take one 1000mg tablet twice a day. For severe infections, it may be increased to three times a day. Space doses at least 4 hours apart.
Take it as soon as you remember, but wait at least 4 hours before the next dose. Don't double the dose.
Common: Diarrhea (adults), fungal infections, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (children). Less common: Skin rash, itching, hives, indigestion, dizziness, headache. Rare: Allergic reactions, inflammation of the large intestine, severe skin reactions.
Don't take if allergic to its components or penicillin, or if you've had liver problems/jaundice with antibiotics. Consult your doctor if you have glandular fever, kidney/liver problems, or are taking other medications.
Store in original packaging below 30°C (86°F), away from moisture and children. Don't use after expiry.
Take to a pharmacy for disposal.
Amoksiklav can cause dizziness. Don't drive or operate machinery if you feel unwell after taking it.
Finishing the course prevents recurrence and antibiotic resistance.
