Dolo-Meta B-Fort contains Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin), and Diclofenac Sodium.
Each tablet contains 100mg Vitamin B1, 200mg Vitamin B6, 200μg Vitamin B12, and 100mg Diclofenac Sodium.
Diclofenac Sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that possesses analgesic and anti-pyretic properties. It reduces pain, inflammation, and fever.
The exact mechanism is unknown, but it is believed to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are involved in inflammatory processes.
Vitamins B1, B6, and B12 are used to treat neurological symptoms like peripheral neuritis. They are essential for nerve function and regeneration.
**Vitamin B1 (Thiamine):** Essential for carbohydrate metabolism. Deficiency leads to lactic acidosis and neurological deterioration. **Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine):** Involved in amino acid, carbohydrate, and fat metabolism. Deficiency may cause sideroblastic anemia, dermatitis, cheilosis, and neurological problems. **Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin):** Acts as a coenzyme in nucleic acid synthesis. Deficiency causes megaloblastic anemia, demyelination, and other neurological damage.
Dolo-Meta B-Fort is indicated for musculoskeletal and joint disorders, inflammation, pain, neuralgia, and neuritis (neuropathies).
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components, peptic ulcer, pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, severe liver dysfunction, and hemopoietic disorders.
Due to the presence of Diclofenac Sodium, avoid concomitant administration with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants, probenecid, diuretics, beta-blockers, corticosteroids, oral anti-diabetics, cyclosporine, and digoxin.
Patients with evidence of peptic ulcer, unexplained gastrointestinal disorders, liver or kidney damage, high blood pressure, and the elderly should use Dolo-Meta B-Fort with caution.
Common side effects include gastrointestinal upset, upper abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, lightheadedness, and headaches. These usually subside after a few days. Hypersensitivity reactions like skin rash, pruritus, asthma attacks, and edema may also occur.
