What is Olfen™M-100 SR and what is it used for?

Olfen™M-100 SR is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation and pain by blocking prostaglandin synthesis. It relieves pain and swelling symptoms but doesn't cure the underlying cause.

How is Olfen™M-100 SR taken?

Dosage is determined by your doctor based on your condition. Take it unchewed with liquid, preferably with meals. Capsules can be opened, but contents shouldn't be chewed or crushed.

When must Olfen™M-100 SR not be used?

* Allergy to ingredients or previous reactions to aspirin or similar drugs.
* Active stomach or duodenal ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation.
* Last trimester of pregnancy.
* Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis).
* Severe liver or kidney impairment.
* Severe heart failure.
* Pain after coronary artery bypass surgery.
* Children under 14 years old.

When is caution needed while taking Olfen™M-100 SR?

* Cardiovascular disease: Discuss suitability with your doctor.
* High risk factors (high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking): Assess individual risk with your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of Olfen™M-100 SR?

* **Common:** Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, bloating, decreased appetite, skin rash, fluid accumulation, swelling, increased blood pressure, liver function changes.
* **Uncommon:** Chest pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing when lying down, swelling of feet or legs, hypersensitivity reaction.
* **Rare:** Vomiting of blood, bloody diarrhea, jaundice, liver failure, hepatitis, impaired liver function, hives.
* **Very rare:** Blood count changes, unusual bleeding, bruising, psychiatric problems, skin sensations, memory impairment, convulsions, anxiety, tremor, taste/vision impairment, ringing in the ears, hearing impairment, stiff neck, raised blood pressure, inflammation of blood vessels, lung or colon, constipation, pancreatitis, mouth lining or tongue inflammation, eczema, itching, skin reddening, hair loss, skin bleeding, acute kidney problems, blood in urine.

What else should you be aware of?

* Only use until the expiry date.
* Store the medicine in its original package, out of reach of children.
* Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
* Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any signs of heart or blood vessel problems.
* Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any concerns or questions.
