Pengesic is an opioid analgesic that relieves pain. It contains 50mg of Tramadol Hydrochloride. Its purpose is to treat moderate to severe acute or chronic pain.
Pengesic binds to receptors in the central nervous system (CNS), affecting how the body perceives pain. It alters the release of neurotransmitters involved in pain signals.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, drowsiness, and confusion.
Use with caution if you have: Decreased respiratory reserve Asthma or heart failure Hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, kidney or liver problems Enlarged prostate, shock, bowel disorders Myasthenia gravis Impaired kidney or liver function
Pengesic is contraindicated for: People with respiratory depression Individuals with acute alcoholism, head injuries, or increased intracranial pressure. Those taking MAO inhibitors. People with a previous allergic reaction to Pengesic. Pregnant women. Breastfeeding women.
Pengesic should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The usual dose is 50mg taken orally, once or twice daily. Do not exceed 400mg per day.
Pengesic can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.
Pengesic can interact with: MAO inhibitors Depressants (alcohol, anesthetics, hypnotics, sedatives, antidepressants, phenothiazines) Opioid analgesics with antagonist activity Tranquilizers and hypnotics
Seek immediate medical attention. Signs of overdose include cold, clammy skin, confusion, seizures, severe dizziness, excessive drowsiness, pinpoint pupils, slow heart rate, slow or labored breathing, unconsciousness, and severe weakness.
Take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose.
Pengesic should only be used for as long as it is medically necessary. Long-term use can lead to dependence.
Store Pengesic capsules below 25°C (77°F) and protect them from moisture.
