What is Brustan-N Suspension and what is it used for?

Brustan-N Suspension contains Ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation, pain, and fever. It is used for: Mild to moderate muscular pain Headache, earache, toothache, backache, post-immunization fever Minor injuries like sprains and strains Fever and symptoms of colds and influenza Sore throat, teething pain, toothache, headache, symptoms of cold and influenza, and post-immunization fever in children over 1 year old.

Who should NOT take Brustan-N Suspension?

You should NOT take Brustan-N Suspension if: You have had an allergic reaction to Ibuprofen or acesulfame potassium in the past. You have asthma, wheezing, rhinitis, or urticaria after consuming aspirin or NSAIDs. You have a stomach ulcer or a history of stomach ulcers. You have had stomach bleeding in the past. You are in your last trimester of pregnancy. You are taking other NSAIDs, including COX-2 inhibitors. You have severely reduced liver or kidney function. You have heart failure. You are under 1 year old.

What precautions should I take while using Brustan-N Suspension?

You should be cautious when using Brustan-N Suspension if you are: Elderly. Suffer from systemic lupus erythematosus. Suffer from bowel disorders like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Have a liver, kidney, or heart disease. Have high blood pressure.

What medications should I tell my doctor about before taking Brustan-N Suspension?

Tell your doctor about any medications you are taking, including: Aspirin, NSAIDs, and COX-2 inhibitors. Diuretics (water tablets). Drugs for treating high blood pressure. Cardiac glycosides (drugs used to treat heart failure). Lithium (used for treatment of mental illnesses). Methotrexate (a medicine used for suppression of the immune system and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis). Cyclosporine (medicines used for suppression of the immune system).

How much Brustan-N Suspension should I take?

The dosage depends on age and condition. Adults: 4-6 spoonfuls (5 ml) three times a day (1200-1800mg daily), but no more than 120ml (2400mg) per day or as directed by your doctor. Children: 20mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into doses. For example: Children 1-2 years: 2.5 ml three to four times a day. Children 3-7 years: One 5 ml spoonful three to four times a day. Children 8-12 years: Two 5 ml spoonfuls three to four times a day. Post-immunization fever: 2.5 ml (50mg) followed by another 2.5 ml (50mg) six hours later if needed, but no more than 2 doses in 24 hours. Children under 1 year old: Do not give Brustan-N Suspension to children under 1 year old.

What if I miss a dose of Brustan-N Suspension?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

What are the possible side effects of Brustan-N Suspension?

Ibuprofen can cause side effects in some people. Common side effects are mild and transient. Serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention: Rashes, hives, itching, chest constriction, shortness of breath, swelling of face, lips, hands, feet, fever, fainting. Severe skin reactions like blisters, sores, or ulceration. Other side effects to report to your doctor: Perforation of the bowel wall. Increased tendency to bleed or bruising easily. Persistent sore throat or high temperature. Yellowing of skin and whites of eyes. Swelling of face, ankles, or other body parts. Skin eruptions. Onset of asthmatic attacks. Aseptic meningitis. Other common side effects: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, increased wind. Headache.

How should I store Brustan-N Suspension?

Store Brustan-N Suspension in its original packaging below 30°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date on the bottle.

If you take too much Brustan-N Suspension, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital emergency department immediately. Take the leaflet or suspension with you so your doctor knows what you have taken. You might experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, ringing in the ears, headache, and bleeding in the stomach.
