What is Dermovate cream used for?

Dermovate cream is a potent topical corticosteroid used to treat various skin conditions in adults, elderly individuals, and children over 1 year old. It effectively relieves inflammation and itching associated with psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), recalcitrant dermatoses, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, and other skin conditions not responsive to less potent steroids.

How is Dermovate cream applied?

Apply Dermovate cream thinly and gently rub into the affected area once or twice a day. Treatment duration is usually up to 4 weeks, after which the frequency or potency should be reduced. Allow time for absorption before applying an emollient.

What are the potential side effects of using Dermovate cream?

Common: Pruritus (itching), local skin burning/pain Uncommon: Skin atrophy, striae, telangiectasias Rare: Skin thinning, wrinkling, dryness, pigmentation changes, hypertrichosis, exacerbation of underlying symptoms, allergic contact dermatitis, pustular psoriasis, erythema, rash, urticaria, acne, application site irritation/pain
