Inhibits the production of prostaglandins by selectively inhibiting COX-2.
What are the potential risks associated with taking Celecoxib?
Cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, renal, hepatic, skin and systemic hypersensitivity reactions, fluid retention, edema, hypertension, and masking of fever.
Who should not take Celecoxib?
Patients with known hypersensitivity to Celecoxib or sulphonamides, active peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding, history of allergic reactions to aspirin or NSAIDs, severe hepatic dysfunction, estimated creatinine clearance <30 ml/min, inflammatory bowel disease, congestive heart failure (NYHA II-IV), established ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, or cerebrovascular disease, pregnant women and women of childbearing potential, and breastfeeding women.
What are the recommended dosages of Celecoxib?
200 mg once daily, with a maximum daily dose of 400 mg.
